How To Make Your Workspace More Zen

(This blog was originally written via aerisysintuitivehealing.com)

My principal occupation is as a freelance web designer, which has me finding most of my time behind a computer screen. Some days I can spend up to 10 hours in this workspace, and without the right tools and atmosphere, it can be daunting and even taxing on my body. The past year I started working on a better work/life balance, and one thing I wanted to make sure I put my focus on was a healthy workspace. If I was to find most of my time each day in one spot, I wanted to make sure it was a safe space for me.

Here are some tips I recommend in adding to your workspace to help in making it more “zen”.

1. Find The Right Location

Finding the right spot may be out of your control, but if you have the option to choose where you work, find a place that feels right to you. Does it have windows nearby where you can get some sunlight peaking through? Is it a small or large room? How does the area feel to you? Ask yourself these questions and see what’s important to you regarding finding your perfect spot.

2. Keep Your Space Clean

A clean space is a happy space. Remind this to yourself. When dust accumulates on all of your stuff, it’s not only your allergies that are screaming for relief. Keep in mind that you are working from this space every day. This means that everything, energy wise, that day accumulates itself onto your desk. Periodically give your space a good cleaning so that you can start each day with a clean slate.

3.) Smudge Your Space

To go along with “cleaning your space”, you should also energetically cleanse this area by giving it a weekly smudging. If you’re in your own home, you can use a smudge stick. However, if you find yourself at another location, no worries! They also make smudge sprays you can use around a particular area. The choice is entirely up to you!

4.) Add Some Crystals

Adding crystals into your space can give you all kinds of incredible benefits. Here’s a list of a few that could make a huge different in your workflow!

Clear Quartz

When distractions arise, this crystal can help you stay focused and clear your mind and zero in on your priorities.

Amethyst

Wanting to avoid stressful situations? Use amethyst to help you in finding a place of calm and relaxation.

Rose Quartz

The soft energy of a rose quartz crystal helps you come at things from a more loving perspective. Whether it’s to your coworkers or to yourself, every situation can call for a little added touch of love.

Black Tourmaline

This stone may be used to support your energetic boundaries and prevent the energy of other people from entering your energy field.

Shungite

Crystal shamans recommend the energy from shungite as a reminder to balance technology with nature.

5.) Add Some Plants

A great way to boost your productivity and add some cheer to your space is by including some leafy friends around your workplace. They can give you a sense of being away; feeling relaxed and simply existing. And when introduced to sterile environments, natural elements can help in mental recovery and stress relief.
